HIIT, or High Intensity Interval Training, is a method of training that allows us to make the most out of the little time we may have to train. HIIT consists of quick, intense bursts of exercise (5 sec – 5 min) at a high percentage of our max heart rate (80-95% Max HR) followed by short recovery periods lasting up to the work period duration. This type of training enables us to elevate our heart rate and burn MORE fat in LESS time. (How appealing is that?!)
Contrary to popular belief, HIIT can be utilized in many different forms of exercise: biking, running, plyometrics, calisthenics, weight training circuits, and so on. A common pros and cons list is time vs effort. It requires much more effort than traditional exercise, but requires much less time!
